A SOLITARY goal from defender Itai Mabunu was enough to ensure Chicken Inn finish this season as runners-up to champions FC Platinum. Mabunu headed home a Xolani Ndlovu corner kick 10 minutes into the game.

It will be the only goal of the game that saw both sides struggle to create clear cut chances though the visitors enjoyed much of the ball. Chicken Inn coach Joey Antipas conceded that his side was not at their best.

“We did not play our usual game. But we still managed to get over the line and collect the three points that help us seal the runners up slot. I feel we deserve to get that slot. It’s unfortunate that we lost out beacuse of our inconsistences midway into the season.

We lost some games that we should have won but we are happy to get the runners up slot. The game itself was not a spectacle but we are happy we managed to grind the results” said Antipas.

His opposite number Thomas Ruzive was pleased with his sides display considering that they were playing against opponents in the top two.
